Luxcontrol digitalises soil investigations: fewer errors and real-time insight

Luxcontrol is a leading consultancy in Luxembourg, specialising in construction, the environment and regulations. Its Sites & Sols pollués department has a team of around twelve experts investigating potentially contaminated sites, supporting remediation projects and managing soil remediation and asbestos removal work.

In a sector where precision and efficiency are crucial, Luxcontrol decided to modernise its processes by switching to TerraIndex, software designed to make soil investigation more efficient, reliable and manageable.

Challenges with the old way of working

Until recently, technicians still used paper forms. Handwritten notes, often made in difficult conditions, were prone to errors and time-consuming. Documents could become wet, illegible or lost, causing frustration and extra work.

“A sheet of paper could easily get lost among all the other documents,” says Camille Zuccolo, project manager at Luxcontrol.

Choosing TerraIndex

Luxcontrol had previously invested in another digital solution, but it did not meet practical needs. Ease of use and speed were lacking, precisely the factors that mattered most to field technicians.

Meeting TerraIndex at the Pollutec 2023 trade fair in Lyon marked the turning point.

“What convinced us was the simplicity and visual structure of the system,” says Camille. “Data is entered in a logical sequence, from project to sample. This makes it intuitive and much clearer.”

The reports were also already well structured and could quickly be adapted to Luxcontrol’s specific working methods.

Fast implementation and immediate results

The transition to TerraIndex went smoothly:

  • first contact in October 2023
  • a test day in February 2024
  • training in July
  • and full deployment in September.

Camille emphasises the importance of good support:

“TerraIndex support is fast and reliable. Even with technical questions, we always received an appropriate answer straight away.”

The benefits became apparent immediately:

  • Time savings through automatically generated reports and borehole logs
  • Fewer errors because everything is recorded digitally and consistently
  • Better collaboration because project managers can view field data in real time
  • Consistency in soil descriptions, making reports more uniform and comparable.

“Previously, we often had to ask technicians for data,” says Camille. “Now the project manager can follow along and respond immediately. This makes collaboration much more efficient and prevents delays.”

Looking ahead

Luxcontrol plans to integrate TerraIndex further with its own modelling software for large remediation projects. Valuable field data can then be used directly to optimise projects and accelerate decision-making.

Conclusion

TerraIndex has helped Luxcontrol take a major step in digitalising soil investigation. The result:

✅ significant time savings

✅ fewer errors and less data loss

✅ better coordination between field and office

✅ real-time insight for quick decisions

“It has really changed the way we work,” concludes Camille. “We can now act faster, collaborate better and guarantee the quality of our data, exactly what our projects need to succeed.”
